As well as shipping containerized freight, Aurora are also specialists in transporting over dimensional cargo, such as machinery and boats.
Aurora recently welcomed the safe arrival of a remarkable 25-meter mast all the way from Brittany, France, after an incredible 48-day journey at sea. Despite its impressive length, the mast was surprisingly lightweight at only 900 kilograms. We carefully trucked it a substantial 850 kilometers to Antwerp, where it was loaded onto a Roll On/Roll Off ship, also known as a vehicle or car carrier.
The mast was securely positioned on an 80ft rolltrailer, which is specialized equipment usually reserved for transporting locomotives. The length of this rolltrailer ensured the mast was fully supported from end to end. Once towed onboard the ship, there were no stopovers or transshipments along the route from Europe. This direct shipping route eliminated the need for double handling, which further reduced the risk of damage and delays during transit.
Upon arriving in Brisbane, the mast had a relatively short drive to its final destination. We are delighted to announce that this yacht mast will be stepped into an exciting, new build project later this year.
