The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (previously called Australian Quarantine) have issued a new Packing Declaration format which is required for every sea freight shipment (LCL & FCL) into Australia.

The change has been made to align with the Biosecurity Act 2015, with the ‘Prohibited packaging material statement’ being replaced with an ‘Unacceptable packaging material statement’. The Department will no longer accept the old format after the 16th June 2017.

Do I need to action this?
Yes, the new format should be emailed to your overseas suppliers so they can commence issuing it for future shipments.
Please emphasize that this is an important document and failure to comply may result in unnecessary fees for your company (the importer).
